[DIY flower headband]

I tend to not really buy into many trends, usually because they don't work for me. Physically, I don't like the way I look in what usually pops up in fashion. One thing I finally came around to this year was the flower headband. Keep in mind, I live in Miami, Florida, which feels sometimes like the EDM capital of the world. This means that all winter long, people were coming here wearing hippie floral headbands to go everywhere: the mall, the beach, dinner, I mean everywhere. I guess it was about time I started liking it. So now I'm headed to the Zac Brown Band concert this weekend and I decided I wanted a flower headband to wear. So I'm making one!

Here's what you need:

[Ashland flowers from Michael's (couldn't find them online)][Scissors][hemp string]

The only things I really had to buy were the flowers, because I already had hemp and scissors.

Steps:

First, I connected the flowers. They have wire backing, so I simply intertwined the wire and made sure the flowers were close enough together so that when I put the headband on, you wouldn't be able to see the wire.

Second, after connecting all the flowers, I doubled a piece of hemp and wrapped the entire headband. I started from one side and wrapped around, covering about half of the green wire until I got to the other end. I left some extra string at the end of that side, to use to tie it later. I doubled up another piece of string and basically did the opposite. Unfortunately, I had to keep everything taut when I was doing this, so pictures were out of the question. Here's the finished wrapping.

Obviously, it's not the most professional looking thing, but it feels comfortable and you can't see the wrapping when it's on. Here is the final headband!

And of course, I couldn't show you this DIY without a selfie to show what it looks like on!

So there you go! Ultimately this DIY took me about 30 minutes, only because I was trying to be very delicate with the flowers when I first started. About halfway through though, I decided they weren't that fragile and really started speeding up.

Now I can't wait for the concert to wear it!
